INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A chain reaction crash shut down all lanes of westbound I-70 on the southwest side of Indianapolis Wednesday.

Multiple vehicles were involved and several fire departments were been called to the scene. The crash happened at mile marker 75 near Sam Jones Expressway.

According to the Wayne Township Fire Department, the crash involved seven cars and three trucks. One of those vehicles was an Indiana State Police car. One of the semi-trucks involved lost its cargo of paper towels and toilet paper when the trailer split open, dumping its load onto the interstate.

Two people were transported to area hospitals, including a state trooper. The trooper was taken to Methodist, while the other was taken to Eskenazi. Five others were treated at the scene and released.

A large back-up ensued. All lanes were eventually reopened.
