INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Authorities say two homes were damaged in an early Sunday morning fire.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 3900 block of Bertrand Road on reports of a working residence fire.

When they arrived they say they found one home fully involved.  It took firefighters nearly a half hour to put out the fire.

Officials say the house was being renovated and was vacant at the time of the fire. They say the home is a total loss with damages near $50,000.

The house next door also suffered minor damages from the fire.

Firefighters on scene were decontaminated after being exposed to poison oak while fighting the fire.
