WINGATE, Ind. – Conservation officers are investigating an ATV crash that injured two men in Wingate Saturday evening.

Officers and first responders were dispatched to the accident on County Road 1050 North around 8:18 p.m.

When officials arrived, they found Bryce McTagertt, 26, and Steve Smith, 57, had lost control of their Polaris Ranger and flipped when going about 45 mph over a hill.

McTagertt sustained a dislocated shoulder and Smith’s arm was broken. Both men were taken by ambulance for further medical treatment.

After further investigation, officers believe alcohol contributed to the crash.

Charges against the men are pending, including a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
