Car hits man on his way to work, leaving him critically injured

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indianapolis Metropolitan police are investigating after a car hit a man who was crossing the street on his way to work Friday morning.

The incident was reported around 6 a.m. at West 71st Street and Georgetown Road. Dispatchers said the victim was severely injured.

According to IMPD, the victim is a man in his 50s who was going to work. He didn’t cross at a crosswalk, however, and a Chevy Malibu going eastbound hit him.

Investigators said the driver pulled over immediately and is cooperating with the investigation. Police talked to the driver, his passenger and a witness.

The man was taken in critical condition to St. Vincent Hospital.
