ANDERSON, Ind.-- Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Donte Moncrief says he's willing to do everything he can to help out the daughter of his former teammate who died in an accidental shooting in Michigan.
Moncrief, 22, told ESPN he plans to support his late teammate's daughter, Zoe, as if she were his own.
"That comes from being from the South," Moncrief said to ESPN. "Wanting to help people and always give back. Like my dad always says, it's better to give than receive. I look at it as if she's my daughter and I want to make sure she's well taken care of. I know that's something he would do for me."
He said he was in Mississippi with his daughter at the time he heard the news. Moncrief's daughter had just met him and the two men talked about getting together in Indy.
He told ESPN he sees his former teammate every time he looks at Zoe.
"He's still here watching over us," Moncrief said. "He's joking, rapping, singing and walking around with his shirt off like he's cut up. That's just him. He's keeping everything going."
Tipton shared this photo of him and his daughter on June 14, two weeks before his death.
After hearing news of Tipton's death, Moncrief shared this emotional post on Instagram:
