INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indianapolis Metropolitan police are conducting a death investigation after a person was found shot to death on the northeast side.
Officers were called to the 3700 block of N. Chester Avenue around 6:10 a.m. Monday. That’s in the area of 38th Street and Sherman Drive.
According to investigators at the scene, the victim was found inside the front door of the house he shared with his girlfriend. She was out of town and found him Monday morning, investigators said.
"Right now, what we know is that we believe the girlfriend of the victim came home after an extended trip and she is the one who discovered the male," said Sgt. Kendale Adams with IMPD. "We have no suspect information at this time and it’s very early in the investigation."
Family members identified the victim to CBS4 as Senteayehou Henry.
Police said it didn't appear anyone broke into the home, although they did suspect foul play in the man's death. Investigators were trying to find out who last talked to the victim to piece together the timeline of his death.
"I think as a community, as a police department, this is becoming unacceptable," Adams said. "We have to do everything we can do as a community, everything we can do as a police department to find these individuals that are responsible for this time of heinous crime. This is unacceptable and we have to do better."
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
