1-year-old dies after apparent drowning on city’s west side

INDIANAPOLIS – Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police department say a baby died after an apparent drowning on Indy’s west side.

According to police, emergency crews responded to the 100 block of Burke Avenue shortly before 11:30 p.m.

Officers say a 1-year-old boy was found in the home’s pool and was taken to Riley Hospital where he later died.

There were other children in the home at the time of the apparent drowning, but no other injuries were reported.

At this time, police say they are investigating this death as accidental.
