Andre Carson waiting to see what Gov. Pence brings to Trump ticket
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A man who served in congress alongside Mike Pence for several years says he’s waiting to see what the governor will bring to the Trump ticket.
Democratic Congressman Andre Carson sat across the aisle from the Republican Pence for four years.
During an appearance at the Indiana Black Expo Saturday, Carson told CBS4 that it’s always good to see Indiana leaders take their place on the national stage.
“The question becomes, will he represent Hoosier sensibilities: being kind to the less fortunate, being kind to the least of these as we are instructed by the old book. And so now that he’s on a national platform will he be a balance to Mr. Trump’s rhetoric of excluding Muslims, building a wall. Making america great again? America’s always been great,” said Carson.
Carson says Pence’s addition to the Trump ticket ought to encourage supporters of Bernie Sanders in Indiana to get behind the Hillary Clinton campaign.
