TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. – Some police in Florida took an unorthodox approach in tracking down the owner of a lost dog.

They decided to “book” Willow just like they would any other prisoner. The department posted Willow’s mugshot on its Facebook page in hopes of finding out where she belongs. The department also posted a photo of Willow getting “paw-printed.”

“She was very cooperative with officers and probably one of the most friendly prisoners we’ve ever had in custody,” said the Facebook post. “Just a little short for her booking photo so she needed assistance getting to the right height.”

Police managed to track down Willow’s owners and arranged for her safe return. Willow, it seems, had escaped from a nearby animal shelter and is looking for a forever home.

“Thank you soo much!! Our silly deaf girl is back with me, lesson learned she can now jump fences,” an employee from the shelter wrote on the department’s post. “Hopefully this will be her last offense . We really appreciate everyone of you for keeping her safe!!”
