Evan Bayh

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—This morning, CBS4 broadcast an inaccurate report stating former Indiana governor and senator Evan Bayh expressed interest in running for Indiana governor if Mike Pence was announced as Donald Trump’s running mate.

The report was incorrect, and we regret the error.

Bayh officially announced he was running for his old Senate seat in Indiana Wednesday. Bayh has never expressed interest in running for governor in the upcoming election.

National Democrats pushed for Bayh to enter the race, seeing him as having a better chance to defeat GOP candidate U.S. Rep. Todd Young as Democrats seek to gain the four or five seats they need to win Senate control.
