INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Two thieves jumped a 68-year-old man in broad daylight last week at the intersection of Pennsylvania and East St. Clair.
Stephen Binder says two men attacked him, dragged him off of his motor scooter, and sped away down the street.
“The two guys jacked my moped. They hit me and took $300 and my moped,” said Binder. “They said, ‘Punk old man. We want that moped.’ They wanted money, and I said I didn’t have any. I fell down on the ground and they kicked me and beat me up.”
The suspects quickly grabbed some money from Stephen, then snatched his moped and sped away down the street.
“I was fighting them back, but they still got the moped,” said Binder. “They put the key in it and took off. They pushed it for a while until they got it started.”
Binder says he sees suspicious people hanging out near the Central Library all the time and wishes the city would clean the area up.
“Yeah, it’s dangerous down there. I hope they clamp down on that library,” said Binder.
In the meantime, Binder hopes the thieves are caught before they carjack another victim.
“Those guys are still on the loose. They did it once, they could do it again,” said Binder.
Unfortunately, police did not have a very detailed description of the suspects to give out. Anyone with information on the case can contact Crime Stoppers 317-262-TIPS.
