State police spot stolen car, arrest driver

WARRICK COUNTY, Ind. — Quick action by the Indiana State Police Monday afternoon helped recover a car that had been stolen just moments before.

State troopers were alerted that a vehicle stolen around 5 p.m. from the town of Bristow was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Interstate 64. Bristow is located about 30 miles east of Santa Claus, Ind.

Troopers spotted the stolen 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt on I-64 near the interchange at County Road 162 and were able to stop it.

The driver, Steven W. Wiley, 50, Saint Anthony, Ind., was arrested without incident. Further investigation revealed Wiley was also driving on a suspended license.

He was arrested and taken to the Warrick County Jail where he is currently being held on charges of vehicle theft and driving while suspended.
