PASADENA, Calif. — “I think they were meant to find each other.”

That sentiment from the mother of 10-year-old Julia rings absolutely true. Julia is deaf and has a 7-month-old puppy named Walter who is also hearing impaired.

They’re best friends now, and Julia is even teaching Walter sign language! He knows how to sit, ask for food and respond to his name when Julia signs at him.

The Pasadena Humane Society posted a video about Julia and Walter on its Facebook page. The video has more than 400,000 views and has been shared thousands of times.

Walter, a Terrier-Chihuahua mix, was surrendered to the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA when he was just six weeks old. The family read about Walter on the group’s Facebook page and adopted him.

“I remember just looking at him and I knew that he was meant to be ours,” Julia’s mother says in the video.
