One person dead after train accident in Fort Wayne
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — One person is dead and another injured in a train accident in the Fort Wayne area.
According to the Ft. Wayne Police Department, the accident occurred just before 3 p.m. Sunday near East Berry Street and Hanna Street. Police aren’t commenting on what happened pending the outcome of their investigation.
The train, operated by Northfolk Southern, apparently had struck one of the two people at the crossing but didn’t stop. The train proceeded several more feet from the intersection.
Police have not released the name of the person fatally struck pending notification of family and the ongoing investigation.
