INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Millions of Americans will be enjoying their Independence Day with cookouts, trips, and of course fireworks.

TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel and booking site, conducted a survey of more than 1,400 people regarding their holiday plans and found that traveling, eating and enjoying a fireworks show were all at the top of the “must do” list for this July 4th.

According to their survey results, the top Fourth-of-July activities include:

  1. Swimming or watersports
  2. Shopping
  3. Hiking
  4. Visiting a park or national park
  5. Attending a fair or festival

While people will be getting together and cooking out today, the survey found that the top favorite Independence Day foods include:

  1. Hamburgers
  2. Seasonal produce (example: tomatoes, peaches, strawberries, watermelon)
  3. Ribs
  4. Hot dogs
  5. Corn on the cob

And after a full day of activities, most people will gather in their cities and towns to watch a wide variety of fireworks light up the sky. Trip Advisor found that some of the best shows in the nation include New York, Philadelphia, Boston, San Diego and Washington D.C.

Locally in Indianapolis, the Donatos Downtown Freedom Blast from atop of the Regions Bank Tower will begin at 10 p.m.
