VIGO COUNTY, Ind.– Authorities say a couple in Vigo County held a suspected robber at gunpoint until police were able to arrest him.

Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a home on East Moyer Drive around 7:45 a.m. Friday after a report of a homeowner coming home and finding an unknown man in her garage.

The homeowner and her husband were both armed, and held the burglar at gunpoint until deputies arrived and took him into custody.

The suspect was identified as 31-year-old Michael D. McBroom of Terre Haute.

While arresting McBroom, deputies found a screwdriver concealed in the sleeve of his sweatshirt in a manner that it could have easily been used as a weapon.

He was taken to the Vigo County Jail on a charge of burglary.
