House fire in Hancock County

WILKINSON, Ind.– A Hancock County family has a passerby to thank for possibly saving their lives Wednesday morning. That passerby alerted the family of three that their house, at 6456 E 1000 N,  was on fire just after 5:30 a.m.

All were able to get out of the house with no injuries being reported.

Firefighters said the family did have working smoke detectors but are unsure whether they or the passerby alerted the family first.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
