IFD firefighter arrested on domestic violence charges

UPDATE (April 11, 2017) — Kelly White pleaded guilty to criminal recklessness. All other charges against him were dismissed. As a result of a plea agreement, he was sentenced to 178 days on non-reporting probation. He’ll have to pay a $50 “domestic violence countermeasures fee.” He may petition the court for expungement after completing his sentence, but the court isn’t guaranteed to approve it.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Police arrested an Indianapolis firefighter after a reported domestic dispute over the weekend.

Indianapolis Metropolitan police said Lt. Kelly White with the Indianapolis Fire Department was arrested Sunday on a domestic battery charge.

According to an IMPD incident report, officers were called to the 7400 block of Stones River Drive around 8:20 p.m. in response to a domestic dispute. Investigators arrived to find a 43-year-old woman suffering from injuries and arrested White.

White has served with IFD for 20 years. IFD sent the following statement:

The Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) was notified by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) of the arrest of Lt. Kelly White (46) on a criminal charge. Lt. White is an active firefighter with the IFD and has served on the department for 20 years. We are monitoring the pending investigation. The IFD has General Orders, Policies and Procedures that address this type of issue and will be followed up with upon additional information being made available.
