Five people rescued during Speedway apartment fire

SPEEDWAY, Ind. — No injuries are being reported after an early morning apartment fire in Speedway.

The fire broke out around 4 a.m. in the 2300 block of Hermitage Way.

When fire crews arrived, they had to rescue 5 people off balconies. One cat died in the fire.

Fire officials say the fire originated on the second floor of the three-story building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
