51-year-old man dies after being shot on city’s east side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – IMPD detectives are investigating after a man was fatally shot on the east side Saturday night.

Officers responded to the reported shooting in the 3000 block of North Sherman Drive around 11:30 p.m. When they arrived they found Leroy Brown, 51, lying in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

EMS crews transported Brown to Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition. Later that evening he was upgraded to serious condition. His condition continued to worsen and he was subsequently pronounced dead by medical staff at the hospital.

Homicide detectives have not yet released any reliable suspect information, but are following up on lead information as the investigation continues.
