FRANKLIN, Ind. – Three thefts at Franklin businesses this week all traced back to the same woman, police say.

According to the Franklin Police Department, Shannel Walsman, 28, was arrested on charges of theft and forgery following incidents at a store, a restaurant and a hotel in Franklin.

On Tuesday night, an employee from the Relax Inn, 188 Lovers Lane., reported that $107 was missing from the cash register. The employee had talked to Walsman that night, who’d asked her for a room. The employee stepped away for a moment to make a call, and surveillance video showed Walsman jumping over the counter and taking money from the register, according to a police report.

About an hour later, two price scanners, a prepaid phone and a stack of papers were stolen from an office at Dollar General, 1872 Northwood Plaza. When employees checked the surveillance footage, they saw a woman matching Walsman’s description enter the office and take the items.

Early Wednesday morning, employees at Waffle House, 98 Lovers Lane, reported that someone stole money and debit cards from their purses. Walsman was in the restaurant at the time, the employees said.

Officers later stopped a car driven by Walsman and found her in possession of the stolen items, according to police. She was arrested and taken to the Johnson County Jail.

Police also said Walsman had counterfeit money related to another investigation.
