INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Four people in a stolen SUV led police on a chase early Thursday morning that ended with the vehicle crashing into a fence and some of the suspects on the run.
According to Indianapolis Metropolitan police, officers tried to pull the SUV over near 56th Street and Georgetown Road, but the vehicle didn’t stop. Police thought there may have been drugs in the vehicle.
The SUV led police on a brief pursuit before crashing into a fence near Herff Jones at 62nd Street and Coffman Road. The impact blew out all four of the vehicle’s tires. All four people inside the SUV got out and ran; police set up a perimeter and caught two of them. Police were still looking for the other two.
“Anytime you get vehicles refusing to stop, you’re putting the public in danger. You’re putting officers in danger,” said Cmdr. Michael Jefferson with IMPD.
Police said the SUV, a Cadillac Escalade, was reported stolen Wednesday.
