INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Surveillance footage from an east side gas station shows a 24-year-old woman getting robbed then beaten in the parking lot in the middle of the afternoon on Wednesday.
“He told me, let go of my purse…or I will kill you,” said Karia Carver.
Carver says the suspect approached her at the Marathon gas station at 8005 East 42nd Street, asking to pump her gas, then turned violent seconds later.
“He snatched me, my hair, my purse, everything,” said Carver.
The attacker may have also had help. Surveillance video shows the suspect talking to a person sitting in a black car, and then the man runs back over to Carver.
“He was talking to me, I guess to try and keep me distracted from the other cars that were involved,” said Carver.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the robbery. Carver, however, took her story to social media. She believes she knows who may have committed the crime.
“If you watch the footage, it looks like I was set up,” said Carver.
Neither police nor Carver can say if she was the target of the attack. She is now trying to reclaim what was lost, including her sense of security.
“Everything was in my purse, pictures of my kids, my lease, my house key, money…so much money,” said Carver.
This is an ongoing investigation. If you have any information, call IMPD or Crime Stoppers.
