OWEN COUNTY, Ind. – The man accused of brutally killing a 1-year-old Owen County girl is due in court Thursday.

A pretrial conference is scheduled Thursday afternoon for Kyle Parker. The 22-year-old is accused of killing Shaylyn Ammerman in March. Charges against him include murder, rape and kidnapping.

According to court documents, Parker took the little girl from her crib at her father’s home after spending the night at a family party. Investigators said he killed her and dumped her body in a wooded area.

Parker told investigators where to find the body, court documents said, and confessed to his stepfather that he’d killed her.

In April, a not guilty plea was entered on Parker’s behalf. A judge also ordered certain records related to the case to be sealed.

His trial is scheduled for August.
