Driver arrested after multiple-semi crash on I-65 near Franklin

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind.– Police arrested a semi truck driver after a crash in Johnson County Thursday.

The crash occurred around 4:15 p.m. on I-65 in Johnson County, at the 92 mile marker. Police say a semi pulling an empty box trailer hit another semi and caused a chain reaction.

The northbound lanes of I-65 near Franklin were closed for about three hours. Six semis and one van were involved in the crash.

One driver was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Police arrested 43-year-old Jose Montalvo of Hialeah, Florida. Montalvo fled from the scene before police arrived, but was later located by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department.

Montalvo was arrested and taken to jail on charges of driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of the crash and driving without insurance. He was also cited for following to closely and several federal motor carrier violations.
