Police find Taylorsville man passed out on front lawn as baby cries

TAYLORSVILLE, Ind.– Police arrested a Taylorsville man Saturday on public intoxication and neglect of a dependent charges.
Officers responded to the 9200 block of Tecumseh Street in Taylorsville just before 1:30 a.m. on a report of a crying child.
Police located the child and 27-year-old Raul Velazquez-Gonzalez at the home. Velazquez-Gonzalez was passed out in the front yard.
Officers tried several times to wake him up. Eventually, he woke up and officers said his breath smelled of an alcoholic beverage.
A breath analyzer revealed a BAC of .210. He was taken to the hospital, cleared and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail.
The child was placed in foster care by the Department of Child Services (DCS).
