MUNCIE, Ind.-- A weekend fire in Muncie destroyed a local trophy shop. The damage estimated at over $100,000, but one unique item survived the blaze, the owners Army uniform.

"Champion Awards" will most likely have to re-open in a new Muncie location.

Store owner, Joey Stull, now has a deeper appreciation for his own service following the long memorial day weekend and the fire that ripped through his business.

"It's going to take a while to get back to where I was," said Stull.

The contents of the store located on the 900 block of West Main Street are pretty much a total loss.

"It is pretty disheartening because the past eight years of my life have been dedicated to this,"said Stull.

The main room is covered in soot, windows are broken out, office equipment is destroyed and smoke detectors Smoke detectors melted away from the walls.

"It's all material stuff and it can be replaced," said Stull.

However, there's one item that won't need replacing.

"The actual suit itself did not get burned," said Stull.

Stull's Army uniform from the late 1990's is in perfect condition. It was only protected by a piece of Plexiglas.

"That's pretty neat becasue that's part of my history of what I did as a kid," said Stull.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Muncie Fire Department.

Stull says other trophy shops are lending their equipment until he can get back on his feet.
