SPEEDWAY, Ind. — Pippa Mann crashed Friday morning during the final practice before the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.

Mann crashed with about 25 minutes of practice remaining. She hit the outside wall in Turn 4 and came to rest on the front straightaway.  She got out of her car on her own, and she was transported to the infield care center to be checked out.

“Yeah, I’m absolutely fine. I just really feel sorry for the crew,” Mann told Indy Sports Central after being released from the infield care center. “I was trying to find some clean air in pack running. I got a little too low on the inside. I dropped the ball and gave them some work to do overnight which is a real shame. The good news is the damage isn’t too bad. Hopefully, it’s just the right rear corner, rear attenuator, rear wing and that’s all we have to fix.”

“The car was fantastic in that practice session,” said Mann. “I just got greedy. I was looking for clearer air down low. The guy in front of me went a little lower and I went lower still and I just got greedy.  That doesn’t impact me. It just makes me wiser.”
