INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy was hospitalized after being hit by a car while on his motorcycle Friday morning.

The deputy was traveling westbound on 16th Street approaching Goodlet Avenue driving his assigned MCSO motorcycle. Corporal Allen had his emergency lights and siren activated at the time of the accident.

A vehicle southbound on Goodlet Avenue approaching 16th Street struck him in the intersection. The Deputy was thrown from his motorcycle and sustained leg and ankle injuries. He was transported to Methodist Hospital in good condition.

Deputies arrested the driver and transported him to the APC for driving a motor vehicle without a driver’s license and his suspension with a prior conviction.

Deputies remind all citizens to use an abundance of caution this weekend when traversing the streets in and around the IMS. They say patience is of the utmost importance for everyone’s safety.
