Townsend Bell primed for 10th career Indy 500
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Townsend Bell revealed his ride for this year’s Indy 500 in front of the Pagoda, Saturday afternoon.
“More than the car and the great partners we have,” said Bell, “just to be here at the Pagoda with all these people, 100 years of the Indy 500, I’m just excited to get going. I feel so lucky to be here for this month.”
This year’s 100th running of the Indy 500 will be the tenth in Bell’s career and his first with Andretti Autosport.
“Every single Indy 500 I’ve ever been to,” added Bell, “whether it was as a spectator or as a racing driver, it’s always special. (The 100th running) just has that extra kick. It’s nice to know the world’s gonna be watching yet again. It’s the biggest race in the world and the biggest prize for me to go try and get.”
Bell’s best finish in the 500 is fourth in 2009 with KV Racing. He finished 14th last year with Dreyer & Reinbold.
“We’ve been pretty well prepared,” said Bell. “We’re just trying to put in the final touches and make sure that the seat belt’s comfortable, the steering wheel, just trying to take nine previous Indy 500’s into account in terms of little things I’ve learned and go through that list of things up front to make sure I don’t have to deal with it further down the month.”
