Sweetser police investigate several thefts from cars during funeral

SWEETSER, Ind. – The Sweetser Police Department is investigating several thefts from cars at a funeral last month.

According to Sweetser police, the thefts occurred on April 20 around 3 p.m. while a funeral graveside service was in progress. The thieves took purses, undisclosed amounts of cash, and other contents from the cars.

The victims reported seeing a black Chrysler 300 with chrome wheels and trim at the cemetery during the service. Investigators believe the suspect(s) followed the funeral procession into the cemetery to take advantage of the opportunity.
