One dead after crash on northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS – Police are investigating after a person was killed in a car crash on the northwest side early Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to a crash near the intersection of West 71st Street and Guion Road around 2 a.m.

When they arrived on scene, officers say they found a single-vehicle crash with one person trapped inside.

Medics arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Police believe speed was a factor in the crash, but say they did not see any indications on scene that alcohol or drugs were a factor.

Officers say power lines are down in the area after the crash and it has caused a power outage in the area of Georgetown Road and West 71st Street.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding this crash and this story will be updated when more information is available.
