Update: An Anderson man was arrested for allegedly calling in the bomb threat. There were no explosives found on the Madison County Courthouse property.

MADISON COUNTY, Ind. – The Madison County courthouse has been evacuated due to a bomb threat. According to Sheriff Scott Mellinger, a male called the clerk’s office at 12:45 p.m. saying there was a bomb on the property.

The courthouse issued a semi-evacuation, which means the evacuation is optional. According to Sheriff Mellinger, about 80% of employees have left the building.

Officers are sweeping the building now, but nothing has been found yet.

Unless they find something, they’re expecting to clear the scene within half an hour.
