Tamika Catchings to go for gold again with 2016 U.S. Olympics team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana Fever’s Tamika Catchings will play on the 2016 U.S. Women’s Olympic Basketball Team.

The selection marks her fourth and final Olympics, and she’s hoping to add some gold to her collection. She won gold medals with the Olympic team in London, Beijing and Athens. The popular Indiana Fever forward announced plans to retire at the end of the upcoming WNBA season.

Catchings is one of three captains on the team, joining Sue Bird (Seattle Storm) and Diana Taurasi (Phoenix Mercury). Geno Auriemma of the University of Connecticut will coach the team. The Olympics will be held Aug. 5 through Aug. 21 in Rio de Janeiro

The Fever will tip off the regular season on Saturday, May 14, at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
