Man arrested for DUI after police say he crashed into an officer

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A man was arrested for driving under the influence after police say he crashed into a police cruiser.

Police say the officer was traveling west on 38th Street at Keystone Avenue when the man turned in front of the squad car.

Witnesses at the scene provided details to investigators.

Police say the driver’s DUI charge will be a felony as he has a previous conviction within the last five years.

The officer was taken to the occupational health clinic to be checked out for complaint of pain to his knee.  The driver under arrest was transported to Eskenazi to be checked out prior to going to the APC.
