INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 22, 2016) – Local pilots are reacting Friday after a flight instructor and his student survived a crash landing in Zionsville.

“The fact that those two guys walked away from that landing yesterday, that crash landing, says something about the talent they had," said 21-year-old flight student, Brandon Gill. "Even though they were in inclement weather and it was difficult, they were able to come out of that alive.”

Gill is studying to become a pilot in Indianapolis. He'd like to become a commercial pilot and said yesterday's crash makes him evaluate how hard he will push himself to improve.

“What are my personal (limits) about flying inclement weather?" said Gill. "I wouldn’t have flown yesterday, but where do I draw the line.”

This is the second emergency landing this year in central Indiana where two people walked away from the scene.

In February, a Carmel father and his teenage son survived a crash landing on I-65.

“It’s not unheard of people landing on the interstate because basically it’s a big runway you know in the middle of the road there," said Gill.

The FAA is still investigating Thursday's crash landing.
