Man found guilty of murdering infant daughter
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 20, 2016) – A man has been found guilty of murdering his 3-month-old daughter.
Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry announced Wednesday that Christopher Schafer was found guilty of murder and battery on a child less than 14-month-old causing death.
The infant, Giuliana Schafer, died on September 3, 2014, as a result of blunt force trauma to the head and left leg.
Schafer told investigators that he was very frustrated that the child was not taking her bottle and would not go back to sleep and admitted to handling her roughly.
The autopsy of the child noted multiple non-accidental injuries, including subdural hematomas to both brain hemispheres, a severe left femur fracture and bruising around the eyes, back, neck, sides and left leg.
A sentencing hearing has been set for May 2.
