GREENSBURG, Ind. (April 11, 2016)- Greensburg police are investigating two reports of junior high school girls being attacked.

The most recent crime allegedly happened this past Monday morning as a 12-year-old girl was walking to the bus stop.  The victim told police she was in an alley was when a man grabbed her "inappropriately."

“That is just wrong. I don’t care who you are. You do not touch a 12-year-old child for any reason,” said Kenny Dean, the victim’s father.

Dean says kids came running when they heard his daughter screaming and that’s when the man took off running.

“They were there and I believe those children were the only things that saved my daughter’s life,” said Dean.

Back in December, police received a similar report. A 13-year-old girl told police a man got into her home through a back door and assaulted her while she was getting ready for school.

The December incident is just a few miles away from this latest report.

“I don’t want to say these are remotely connected in any way but we just want the public to be aware of what’s going on,” said Chief Brendan Bridges, with the Greensburg Police Department.

Police believe the suspect in both cases is a man in his late teens or early 20s.  He’s described as having a slender build and was wearing all black.

“I don’t know whether he thinks he has the right to do this kind of stuff but he needs to be caught,” said Dean.

Greensburg Police tell us they have stepped up patrols in alleys, at schools, and around bus stops.

“It’s all because of this one sick person that ruined my daughter’s life. This will be with her for the rest of her life,” said Dean.

Police are reminding all parents to make sure their children use the buddy system.   If you see anything suspicious, investigators are asking you to call 812-663-3131.
