INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 11, 2016) -- Indianapolis Metropolitan police are investigating a fatal shooting on the east side of Indianapolis.
Police said a man was found shot to death in the area of Brookville Road and Sherman Drive. Police were originally called to the area around 4:30 a.m. after a report of shots fired. They arrived to find a man had been shot. Police said they had a person of interest in the case.
"We don't believe this was a random act," said Capt. Richard Riddle with IMPD. "We do believe all the individuals involved knew each other so we believe no one else is currently in danger at this time."
The victim was identified as Antoan Johnson, 34, of Indianapolis.
Medics pronounced him dead at the scene, and homicide detectives were called to investigate. Police were questioning one person downtown and said several other people called police after hearing gunshots.
