Rain returns to central Indiana

Rain is marching east from Illinois in to Indiana.  As suggested Saturday night on CBS4 News at 11pm, rain should arrive in Indianapolis around 5pm.

While severe weather is not expected, a few rumbles of thunder will be possible this evening through tomorrow morning.

The above chart shows when rain is projected to be falling in Indianapolis.  The height of the bars indicates how hard it will be raining by giving a hourly rainfall rate.

Latest data suggests the rain will be steady from 5pm through 9pm.  The rain tapers slightly between 10pm and 11pm and then increases at midnight.  Another round of rain looks likely for late Monday morning through mid-afternoon.

Computer models have been bullish on rainfall from this evening through Monday afternoon.  Generally speaking, data suggests we could see anywhere from 1″ to 2″ of rain over the next 24 hours.  Here’s a look at one of our high resolution computer models – the RPM.
