IKEA children's bat cape

(April 9, 2016) – IKEA has recalled around 11,000 children’s bat cape costumes due to a strangulation hazard.

The company says the fabric hook and loop fastener at the neck of the cape can fail to detach, posing a strangulation hazard to children.

The product was sold at IKEA stores nationwide and online from November 2015 to February 2016 for around $13.

Consumers should immediately take the capes away from children and return the capes to any IKEA store for a full refund.
