INDIANAPOLIS (March 27, 2016) - An Indiana congressman is responding to Ted Cruz's comments calling for surveillance of Muslim neighborhoods.

Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN) is one of two Muslims serving in Congress, and he also sits on the House Intelligence Committee.

Carson says the statements from Cruz and other similar statements from Donald Trump are only making things worse.

“I think for him to say that shows the kind of hate filled rhetoric that we just talked about,” said Carson. “It’s ridiculous when you talk about Muslim neighborhoods that would be Geist, Fishers, central Indiana, Clinton County.. because Muslims are everywhere.”

See more of Carson’s remarks in the video above, including his thoughts on this week’s terror attacks in Belgium and the plan to fight ISIS.
