Putnam County shooting leaves man with life-threatening injuries

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (March 26, 2016) — Indiana State Police is investigating a shooting at a rural home in Putnam County.

The report came in Friday around 4 p.m. Two men were reportedly stealing items from a yard in the 7600 block of South State Road 243.

When troopers arrived on scene, they found Jeffrey Dewayne Perkins, 59, shot in the head inside of a pick-up truck.  Perkins was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say Perkins is from a rural part of Greencastle.

This investigation is still on-going. No suspects have been named. There is no danger to the public at this time.
