WAVERLY, Ind. (March 26, 2016)–An Indiana State Trooper on routine patrol came across a group carrying a large wooden cross along State Road 37 in Morgan County Saturday afternoon.

Trooper Dustin Starnes said the group was carrying an 80 pound wooden cross along with the Christian flag toward the Manna Mission in Martinsville.

Trooper Starnes brought the group water to drink and checked on their safety as they planned to arrive at the mission before nightfall.

One of the group members said, “We just wanted to show our appreciation for the sacrifice made over 2000 years ago along with the sacrifices the Manna Mission makes on a daily basis for those in need.”

For more than 25 years the Manna Mission has been helping hundreds in Martinsville and across Morgan County during times of need.  The mission helps struggling area folks by providing meals and a place to sleep for the homeless.
