Yankees honor Howard County Deputy Koontz killed in the line of duty

HOWARD COUNTY, Ind. (March 22, 2016) – The New York Yankees honored Howard County Deputy Koontz after he was fatally shot in the line of duty Sunday morning.

The organization sent a card and flowers to the Howard County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday.

The card said, “With our deepest sympathies our thoughts and prayers go out to the Koontz family and the Howard County Sheriff’s Department.”

Funeral arrangements were announced for Koontz on Tuesday. His visitation will be held Monday, March 28, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Northwestern High School, and his funeral is set for Tuesday, March 29 at 11 a.m. at the high school.
