HOWARD COUNTY, Ind. (March 21, 2016) – A Kokomo woman shared a sweet story and picture of Deputy Carl Koontz on her Facebook page that acts as another reminder of how much the fallen deputy will be missed.

According to Brianne Harness, a few weeks ago her daughter Adalynne was giving her lots of trouble about staying in her car seat. So one day, she pulled into the Howard County Jail so an officer could speak with her daughter about the importance of car seat safety.

Koontz walked over to Harness’ car, and he stood out in the cold for at least 30 minutes to explain the importance of car seat safety to Adalynne. Harness says Adalynne was very sassy, and she was not afraid of him at all.

Koontz told Harness about his own 8-month-old son and asked if this is what he has to look forward to. Harness told him, “You have no idea!” and they shared a laugh together.

Harness says the news of his passing breaks her heart, and he was one of the sweetest men she has ever met.
