INDIANAPOLIS (March 20, 2016) - Indiana continues to face a war on heroin and opioid abuse.
Last week, congresswoman Susan Brooks (R-IN) held a special listening session to talk with Hoosiers about the war on drugs.
In Congress, she's been calling for a new task force to help prescribers come up with new best practices, so that people aren't over prescribed when they need pain medication.
The CDC also put out new prescribing guidelines this past week, calling for new safety measures.
"We are now having I think an unprecedented number of children coming into the child welfare system because their parents are dying of overdoses," said Brooks. "People need to realize more than 40 Americans a day are dying from overdose deaths."
