Kokomo man accused of raping convenience store worker in cornfield

KOKOMO, Ind. (Mar. 8, 2016)– Police arrested a Kokomo man Monday accused of raping a woman in his car.

The Howard County Sheriff’s Department says Michael Allen Liali, 32, was a frequent visitor at the convenience store where the victim works.

On October 1, 2015, Liali told the victim he needed to meet with her in a Walmart parking lot. She met him and got inside his vehicle to talk.

The victim told police Liali drove to a cornfield off State Road 22 on County Road 300 East and forced her to engage in sexual acts.

Liali was arrested on felony charges of rape, attempted criminal confinement and sex offense aggravated battery.
