INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 7, 2016) – The trial of a man accused of killing an Indianapolis teenager and burning her body begins this week with jury selection Monday.

William Gholston is charged with murder in the death of 15-year-old Dominique Allen. Police said the Ben Davis High School student was strangled in August 2014 before her body was burned. Months later, Indianapolis Metropolitan police arrested Gholston in connection with the case.

His trial is expected to last four days.

According to police, Gholston’s DNA was found on Allen’s body and on a discarded sandal. His DNA had been previously entered in a Department of Correction database.

Gholston was at the Marion County Jail on a parole violation when he was charged in November 2014. His last known address was on the near west side of Indianapolis, not far from the scene where Allen’s body was found at 1108 N. Elder. A witness found the teen’s purse and sandals at 1919 W. 10th St.

Gholston has a lengthy criminal history and was accused in a 2002 murder. That case later went to trial, but he was ultimately found not guilty.
