Person shot on city’s near east side early Monday morning

INDIANAPOLIS (March 7, 2016) – IMPD officers are investigating after a person was seriously injured in an early morning shooting on Indy’s near east side.

Police officers responded to a gas station in the 1000 block of North Rural Street shortly before 5 a.m. Monday.

When they arrived on scene, they found a person suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim told police they were shot at a different location, and went to a gas station near the intersection of 10th and Rural Streets for help.

Police say the victim was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

This investigation is ongoing and officers have not released any suspect information at this time.
